"The Legend of the Enigmatic Mansion" recounts the story of Xiaolian (Yaoyao), who grew up in the Wu mansion during the era of the Republic of China. Enduring mistreatment and abuse at the hands of Master Wu for an extended period, Xiaolian becomes fragmented and develops a four-faced personality. Colluding with bandits, Master Wu nearly silences Xiaolian, but she is rescued by the former butler of the Wu household (played by Lý Tử Hùng). Consumed by anger and madness upon learning of her sister's tragic ordeal, Xiaolian's older brother, a psychology student abroad, returns to China with a determination to help her recover. Through hypnotizing Xiaolian, he guides her back to the Wu mansion, reenacting her captivity on the spot. With the support of her brother and the former butler, Xiaolian conquers her madness, rediscovers herself, and regains her health.
